#1 – Why You Should Publish an eBook on Amazon Kindle
Amazon Kindle Store where you can go to the Amazon.com web site to find e-books on just about any subject that’s already available in both hardback and paperback. So you can find Kindle books available in non-fiction or business or fiction and literature. But do you know how to publish an ebook on Amazon? You just visit these books right?
Now, these e-books can be read by individuals using the Amazon Kindle e-reader or any mobile device application and or a personal computer.
Amazon Kindle allows individuals to earn royalties from selling their books on the platform. In some cases up to percent of the sale price. Amazon has made it easy for individuals to use their Kindle platform. Because to publish their own books that using the Kindle platform to publish your book is free of charge.
In this article, I will walk through the technical process of getting set up on Amazon Kindle and also getting your book published. But what you want to do is to make sure that you have a manuscript that has been written and edited. Then be able to walk through the Amazon Kindle direct publishing process.

#2 – Signing up a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Account
But the first thing you’re going to do is you’re going to go to https://kdp.amazon.com. And then you’re going to set up an account. If you already have an Amazon.com account you can use that account to sign up. You’ll still be able to use your KDP account as your business.
You don’t have to worry about having your personal and business mix together.
Now you need to click Create your KDP account button.
You’re going to write in your details and once you do that you’re going to click Create your KDP account.
Now even if you choose not to do so at this time you’re going to want to read through Kindle terms of service and once you do that you can then click agree.
And when you first go through the setup process you’re going to want to click this Update Now button.
And basically what you’re going to be doing is you’re going to be set up so that you can be paid. You’re going to need to state your country or region. And once you do that you’re going to need to set up your banking information so that Amazon can send your payments.
You’ll also need to set up your taxing information again so that Amazon will be able to report to your taxing authorities when you earn income. And once you do that you’ll then click Save.
#3 – What Types of Ebook You Can Publish on Kindle
Our topic is how to publish an ebook on amazon. You need to give better attention in this section.
No. one thing you’re going to want to do is you’re going to want to determine what kind of Kindle book you’re going to write. And what type of ebook you want to publish also.
You can click Get started with Kindle content creation tools inside of the dashboard in order to determine that once you’re at this page
you’re going to want to click Kindle create help overview then Getting started with Kindle Create you’re then going to scroll down and what you’re going to notice here is that there are three basic book types you’re going to have a traditional book which primarily texts you’re going to want to put your document together using a doc file or Digex X file which is the Microsoft Word designation.
If you’re going to have a comic or graphic novel of some kind then what you’re going to use is a PDF file that might mean that you’re going to use Microsoft Word then you’re going to turn it into a PDF document before you bring it to kindle and you’re going to have a book with complex formatting with lots of images or in this case perhaps audio-video and lots of hyperlinks.
Then you’re also going to use a PDF in order to bring that content into Kindle. And once again that could mean that you’re going to create the entire thing at Microsoft Word but you’re going to save it as a PDF. This can help you to publish your ebook in a read form.
So you can bring it into Kindle for the formatting. Now assuming that you have the basic manuscript of your book already in place we’re going to need to do next is we’re going to need the Kindle software in order to work with the document to get it ready for Kindle.

#4 – Building Your Table of Content
Section and then you’re going to insert a table of contents. And so you’ll see the Table of Contents insertion point.
Here we’re going to click this drop-down arrow and we’re going to use the automatic table now for some reason you don’t necessarily like the table you are going to be able to change the style once you actually get inside of Kindle create.
So once we have this information we can then save our documents we’re now ready to import this document into Kindle create.
So we’re going to click New Project From file.
We’re going to select the first section and then we’re going to click Choose File.
We’re going to select the document and then click open and then kindle create is going to begin to import and convert our document and at this stage kindle create is now going to format our document according to our titles according to our table of contents.
And if you have highlighted your table of contents according to the formatting then what will happen is kindle create will find those titles and it will automatically update your documents.
So we’re now going to click Get Started once we’ve imported the document we want to verify that we have all of our titles one to verify that all of those titles are now in our table of contents and that they are now clickable to the actual chapter and we verify that they are.
Now we are going to be able to edit the look of this table of contents. We want to do is make sure that it reflects our book. And once we confirm that it does we can save our document and then we can move on to the next step.
#5 – Select a Theme for Your eBook
Now we are inside of Kindle create one of the things that we can do now is we can select a theme that we can use to make our formatting consistent.
And so we can click Theme option and what we’re going to do is we’re
going to select a theme now by default Kindle create uses the modern theme and that’s the one that we are using right now and we can also select the Classic theme and we do that we can click Select button.
And once you’ve selected the theme that you feel reflects the look that you want for your Kindle book you can then click Save.
#6 – Formatting the Title Page
Now that you’ve chosen a theme that you can do is you can use the tools in kindle create to format your title page and war-front book matter in order to do that.
But we’re going to do is walk into place inside of the title page first and what you’re going to notice is that you have a Properties tab here on your right side menu.
So we’re going to look at.
First, it’s going to be the title page content.
Now if we want to change the formatting we can come over into the detail go over to the formatting side. What we have to do is we’d have to highlight this phrase and then we can set the face of the font.
And you’ll notice we have some additional fonts with and this we can size up the font or we can size down the font we can use some of the other features we can turn the font into uppercase we can go back to all lower case or we can use the title case.
So again we can format the title page by using the formatting detail on the right side menu.
#7 – Formatting the Chapter Page
Formatting the chapter page section you need to do perfectly because in how to publish an ebook on amazon article this is more important.
Now we’re choosing the theme actually does for us is it gives us a consistent way of being able to apply titles, as well as formatting throughout the book and what we’ve done so far, is we work with a title page and what we can also do is we can work with the first page of every chapter.
So for example, if we go to click on this thumbnail or chapter one and then we put inside of the text which you’re going to notice is that you have an element side in a formatting side. We click the elements side which you’re going to notice is that we are now inside of the title page. And we can then make sure that our title is going to be consistent with our title page. As well as all of the other chapters that we make changes to if we make changes to the title page and we want to make changes to this title formatting.
We can then take this common element and we can do it throughout all of the chapters once it’s been set. If you have a subtitle if you have an author name if you have a part title if you have a part subtitle you can make sure that they’re going to be consistent throughout all of the chapters.
So we’re going to do now is just make sure that our first page of every chapter is going to be formatted in the way that we want it. And so for example we’re going to highlight this title going to go to the formatting and we’re going to make a decision about how we want the titles of our chapters to be format and if we decide that well what is we want this to be a certain kind of font for all of our titles.
We can do that.
And so now what we’re going to do and now that this is set we’re going to leave this as it is and we’re going to make the same change throughout all of our chapters.
So we’ve just changed chapter 1.
Now we can do is we can go and we can change chapter to we can highlight Chapter Two we can then make that the same title we can now go to Chapter 3 we can highlight it we can then make it the same title as the others. And we’re now going to do this effectively throughout our entire e-book. Once you have your title pages set the way you want them you can then click save and you were then ready to move on to the next step of the formatting process.
#8 – How to Edit Your eBook Text
Now that you have done the formatting you now want to make sure that you edit anything that you want to find like in your manuscript.
Now please note.
You should have already proofread as well as grammar. Read your document before you upload to kindle create does not have a spell checker or grammar check.
So once again that should be done before you put your document into the software. Now what you’re going to do is you’re going to be using the formatting site. Or you can scroll to your document as you would any word processing software. So what you’ll be doing is you’ll be making changes to make your document look consistent.
You can place your cursor inside of the text. You can then make space where you need to make it and you can make all of your paragraphs consistent in the way that you want to make them. And we’re going to need to make those kinds of changes in each and every one of our chapters and once we’ve done that we’re going to want to click Save inside of Kindle create.
Now there is one more factor to note.
If you were to go to any of your text as you would any word processing software and you were to right-click that text you would not see a place for you to be able to insert your hyperlink. That means then that your hyperlinks will need to be part of the document.
When you upload it or import it into the Kindle create software you will not be able to do that inside the software. You’ll only be able to do that before the document is placed in.
So once you’ve done the edits in all of your chapters you’ve done the formatting and elements you can then click save.
#9 – How to Add Text to Your eBook

Kindle creates functions much like word processing software adding text is going to be fairly straight forward.
You’re going to place your cursor when you’re going to be adding the text and what you’re going to do then is you’re going to write the text as you would or as you like it to be seen. And of course if you want to make changes to the paragraph you can do that and your text is then added to your document.
Now if you don’t like the text that you add it all you need to do is click the undo button and you can get rid of the text that you put in.
You can also paste in text from your clipboard.
So if you have a text from another document you can copy that text from the document that you’re working with. You can head back to Kindle create. You can search your cursor and then you can go to the end command. Then click the paste link or you can hit control the and you’ll note that the formatting is now correct. What you may have to do is you may have to adjust the spacing so that it is consistent with the other spacing in your document.
Now when you’re working with making changes to the text in a table of contents it may be a little tricky because you’re working with an actual hyperlink. What you can do is you can highlight the entire text that you’re going to edit. You can hit the control command. Place your cursor where you want to make the change. You can then write what you want to be there.
Once you make the change you can then click Save. Once again what you’ll need to do is you need to highlight the entire text. You’ll then need to hit the control command. You’ll then place your cursor where you want to make the change. You will then put your text in that you want. And then once you’ve made the change you can then click Save that you make changes to the table of contents you are going to want to make sure that you are consistent with your chapter titles.
#10 – How to Create Awesome Cover for Your eBook

And if you come into your Kindle book details and you come to the point where you have already named your title what you’re going to do is you’re going to come to create your cover that you’re going to notice that there is one that’s already here that’s been created.
We’re going to go through this process again so you can see how to use it on your end. So we’re going to do now is you’re going to click launch cover creator and what we’re going to do is we’re going to go backward and magus to click number one and you’re
going to notice that they’re going to be several styles that you can use and this case we’re going to do is we’re going to choose one of the available styles and we can either choose a non-image design or we can choose an image-based design.
Now if we choose an image-based design we can upload images from our personal computer or from their image gallery. And for example, if we need to change the image we will need to do is we can click to change the title and we can click here to change the image in the background and we can choose from the image gallery here or from our personal computer if we want to change the title or the style.
We can do that by clicking here and all we’ll need to do is we need to change the font as we see it. Once we have set the font the way we want we can then click outside of here then our title will look the way we want it to look what we want to add to this where we the author we can add and more.
And once we have the cover looking the way we want we can then click save and we can also do is we can make changes to the colors. We can make changes to the layout. So for example, if we click Choose layout we can choose various layouts for this particular style.
So, for example, we can make the change here.
We can make another change here and however we want it to look for our particular audience. We can do that. So once we have that change the way we want them what we’ll need to do is then click say we want to change the font.
Again we can do that. For example if we want to change the font to something that looks like this we can then click save and then once we’ve made all the changes we want to make to our cover we can then quick preview kinda we’ll then update the cover and build it how you’ll note that the image is going to be different mainly because we had a placeholder image in here and Amazon Kindle required that we placed our own image here.
So we used an image from the image gallery and we placed that image inside of our Kindle cover. So now what we’re going to do is will then click save and submit. We want to be asked if we want to update the information within to click yes.
Now you’ll note that our file is being processed and then our new cover is now in place.
#11 – Previewing and Publishing Your eBook

When your content is final and kindle creates you’re then going to click publish.
But you’re going to be asked to save the final file and then Kindle is going to package the project for publication and that will be the file that we’re going to upload to our Kindle account as you can see here.
One of the formats that we can use is the KPFA format that’s the format that we just save too. So now we’re going to click Upload eBook Manuscript and we’re going to grab our file the upload process will start.
And then Kindle will save our manuscript but once we’ve done that we then have what’s called the Kindle e-book previewer.
And so we can click this preview or so that we can see how our book is going to appear on most Kindle e-readers.
So at this point, we can now click the launch previewer and the preview will start.
And you can then see how your book is actually going to look.
Now if you have an area that you can correct Kindle will tell you what the error is. So we’re going to do is we’re going to click ignore we do that we’re going to click go back because it now we have an ISBN or you are using a publishing company or a publishing brand you can rank it in.
Otherwise, you can either save this entire document as a draft or you can click save and continue.
So we have now saved the documents as a draft.
#12 – Wrapping up the Section
Once you have everything as you want it you will then be able to move forward by scrolling all the way to the bottom and clicking save and continue.
This is the point in which you will determine your marketing and your distribution as well as your price. You’ll then be able to click this button that will say publish your Kindle eBook. However, it’s important to note that one of the most important factors that there will be for other individuals to decide to choose your book will be your cover and you can use the default cover in Amazon Kindle.
However, it might be best for you to consider having the cover professionally designed. You have plans to make your cover into a paperback book using create space or using KDP then you may want to consider having a cover design that you can use for both. And typically the search terms will have something to do with creating space and the Kindle, for example, this individual will design something for Kindle as well as create space so that you can use them for both platforms.
