Let’s tell Facebook what our marketing objective for today is? Today we’re going to use traffic. Basically we want people to click on our Facebook ads and then eventually go to our Website or our landing page.
So let’s begin.
I’m going to choose the traffic. The next thing Facebook is asking me to do is give a campaign name. Do remember to give yourself a campaign name because when you become an experienced Facebook advertiser you may not remember which campaign is for what.
So make sure you give it a relative name. And this I’m going to call it Udemy campaign for learning continue. Now we’ve come to the real dashboard of Facebook.
Have a look. So again you see they’re asking you for an Advert set name which means what is your target audience. So I’m going to call this target audience for Facebook ad course.
The next few things that they are asking us is do you want the traffic to go to your app to the Facebook Messenger or do you want people to go to your Website?
Well for today I’m going to choose Web site let’s go ahead. Now you see that Facebook is asking you if you want to do an offer. Well, this is something new not so important.
Let’s skip to the next most important thing which is the audience. Who do you want Facebook to show their ads to?
You need to decide and be explicit about who you want your ads to be seen by. So let’s begin. I’m going to create a new audience every time I make some changes in my audience.
You will see that the audience size will keep changing. If I tell Facebook that I want to target let’s say 18-year-olds living in India. In fact, only in Mumbai Facebook will again tell me how many people believe you will reach out to?
So let’s go ahead and see now when you begin. The first thing that they’re asking you as an open field over there is custom audiences. But wait. what are custom audiences? now let’s say if you had an e-commerce Website or if you had a database of your customers in terms of name number e-mail 80 what you can do is you can see an entire database and go ahead and upload it onto Facebook.
What Facebook will do is they will attempt to match those name numbers or e-mails to some name numbers or e-mails that they can find on Facebook.
If they can find all your ads would definitely be seen by those names numbers or e-mail I.D. So let’s go to custom audiences and say create a new custom audience. I’m going to be creating a new custom audience. Now Facebook is asking me how do you want this custom audience to be created.
Do you want to upload a customer file when you have your entire database? Name is not that important but numbers or emulate are extremely important. For today’s example let’s take a customer file. I am going to add a customer from my own file or I’m going to copy and paste data.
Let’s click on it.
So prepare to file with your customer data and you can see Facebook is asking you to upload a file. Make sure you have your file in either the CSV format or the TXT format. Generally most excels can be saved when you go to excel and file save as instead of Excel.
You can save your file as CSV. So I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to click on the upload file and I am going to search for the database.
Let’s say I look out for the SVKM database you see I have a CSV file over here I’m going to open it can you see what I have in terms of Serial Number.
Name number email I.D.
I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to upload this entire database on Facebook and what Facebook is going to do is that they’re going to try matching these name numbers email I.D to what they have as users on Facebook and have defined them.
Facebook will definitely show add to those name numbers and the email I.D.
So I’ve uploaded it. I can give this a name. Let the name be there and I’m going to click on Next.
I can tell Facebook Hey upload these names numbers and e-mail addresses and find them for me on Facebook.
You can see if Facebook is now uploading all this information and it is saying that one hundred percent 100 percent of the numbers an email I.D. that you uploaded online have been match which means Facebook could find all these twelve hundred and twenty-nine numbers and emulators on Facebook.
Sometimes what may happen is a huge database and you’re uploading that database online.
Let’s say you have 1,00,000 people.
Facebook may just be able to find 60000 thousand because the remaining 40000 numbers or email I.D. Facebook is unable to identify either there’s no user who’s using Facebook with that phone number or email I.D. or there’s a user but they are not using that number or e-mail.
In any case, you at least have sixty thousand.
In this case, you have twelve hundred and twenty-nine people on your database.
Let’s say that you think these twelve hundred and twenty-nine people are your absolute target audience and you also think that people who are similar to these twelve hundred and twenty-nine people could be your prospective customers.
You can tell Facebook to create something known as a lookalike audience. You’ll see a lookalike audience which I’m going to dig into somewhere later. Apart from the database, Facebook will try finding people with similar designations similar age-similar agenda similar interest on Facebook similar activities on Facebook basically creating a replicate a very similar type of a target audience which you could use to advertise.
So for right now, I’m just going to say.
Now you can see on my customer list over here I have uploaded an SVKM database 2016-17.
If I want to look like the audience I can go to a couple of lookalike audiences and you’re I’ve already created a lookalike audience and I can go tap on that look alike audience and put it inside.
You can decide either you can put up your database or you can also create a lookalike audience.
You need to decide what matches your target audience need and your business audience needs. In this video, we spoke about some really important factors in customer audiences but in the next video, we’re going to dig down into details of custom audiences and lookalike audiences.
